As the host of 10 to Curtain, Kevin Patterson brings more than twenty-five years of expertise and insight to each discussion. He has thrived in the creative world as a producer, director, and educator in 100s of creative projects spanning the mediums of live performance, video, and digital media. A passionate evangelist for the power of the creative process to stimulate community dialogue and action, Mr. Patterson sees the creative arts as the creative soul of strong and vibrant communities.
He has been associated with performing arts organizations on the national and regional level including the Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Chicago. Mr. Patterson served as the General Director of Austin Lyric Opera and the Executive Director of Anchorage Opera and General Director of the Indianapolis Opera. Through events, concerts and gala projects, Mr. Patterson has worked with artists as diverse as Placido Domingo, Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu to Willie Nelson, Del Castillo, Seth Walker, The Quebe Sisters and Asleep at the Wheel. His unique style as an artistic director and producer in using art as a catalyst for meaningful communication has won praise from critics both nationally and internationally.
Mr. Patterson is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned a B.A. in Music and also earned an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been a frequent guest lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Texas at Austin, and The University of Alaska, Anchorage. Mr. Patterson was asked to speak on the changing philanthropic landscape as part of the Chartwell Lecture Series at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Building connectivity through advocacy, strategic planning and collaborative partnerships, he has consulted with local governments on the economic impact and strategic implications of creative industries in a community.
